The CSFG holds its monthly members’ meetings on the third Wednesday of each month from 7:30-9:30pm.
The meetings take place in the meeting room of the ACT Writers’ Centre at Gorman House, in Braddon, following the association’s committee meeting. Anyone who is interested in coming along is welcome (although if you’d like to keep coming along, we’ll probably ask you to join up).
The members’ meetings are for updating members on CSFG business such as anthologies and other activities, catching up and sharing news, and anything else the conversation turns to. The second hour of the meeting is generally given over to informal workshops, exercises or discussions on the craft or business of speculative fiction. We have also had guest speakers on subjects of interest to Guild members and speculative fiction writers generally. Past speakers have included an anthropologist, a crypto-zoologist, a police detective and a forensic entomologist, and one meeting was taken on a tour of the ANU Robotics laboratory.
